The Kappa Foundation of Delray Beach

The Kappa Foundation of Delray Beach Inc. was chartered on May 5th, 2014, building on a rich legacy of service and brotherhood. This foundation was established by several individuals who participated in the original charter ceremony in 1983 for the Delray Beach Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Their commitment to excellence and community engagement continues to inspire the foundation's mission and activities today.

Founded on a rich legacy of brotherhood, service, and leadership, the Foundation was created to expand the chapter’s mission beyond the confines of fraternity walls and into the very heart of the community. Since its establishment, the Foundation has remained steadfast in its commitment to meaningful community engagement—actively supporting families, empowering youth, investing in education, and fortifying neighborhoods throughout Delray Beach and the surrounding areas. Through these dedicated efforts, the Foundation aims to foster a spirit of collaboration and instill lasting positive change within the community.

Tournament

The Larry L. Thomas Memorial Golf Tournament honors the life and legacy of Larry L. Thomas, a devoted community servant and lifelong member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., whose passion for mentorship and education inspired this annual event. Now in its 5th year, the tournament raises scholarship funds for graduating seniors in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, helping students pursue higher education and future success. Through fellowship, community partnership, and service, the tournament continues to build a lasting legacy of opportunity for the next generation.

Community Service

The Kappa Foundation of Delray Beach is dedicated to strengthening our community through consistent service, youth empowerment, and strategic partnerships. Rooted in a tradition of giving, our Foundation has carried out recurring community initiatives, building on earlier service efforts to create lasting impact. Through hands-on projects, school partnerships, and family support programs, we focus on meeting real needs and uplifting the next generation.

Our work includes providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need, leading annual holiday toy drives, and supporting local schools through supplies, clothing, and monetary donations to Galaxy Elementary School and Village Academy. We have adopted Galaxy E3 Elementary School as a long-term partner, collaborated with the Belle Glade/Pahokee Chapter to expand outreach, and participated in community service projects such as Habitat for Humanity neighborhood improvement initiatives.

Education and opportunity remain central to our mission. The Foundation has awarded $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Boynton Beach High School and Atlantic High School, contributed financial support to Saint John Promise, and continuously invested in youth development programs.

Guided by faith, fellowship, and community connection, the Delray Kappa Foundation remains committed to serving, empowering, and building a stronger future for Delray and surrounding communities.
